Worldwide Contest : The real colors of my life

Journal Entry: Mon Jan 5, 2009, 9:11 AM

Show us your real colors! - Show us your souls

Datacolor and its partners come up with something very special for the snow-white winter time to dispel the winter blues or make the too rich Christmas goose forget: Show colors, get published & win!

White snow everywhere? Not exactly. We want something gaudy, or something black with white dues, anyway we want what you call your „true colors“ – fixed with photography. Anything goes, but we make high demands! We are looking forward to two of your best works, the inner sanctum of your creativity, the final pixel out of your digital camera, the last nerve at the developing bath.

Thirty participants – chosen by the jury – get rewarded with a publication of their two images in the „Real Colors of my Life“ photo book, which will be available in the Blurb bookstore. No need to mention that of course every winner will get a free copy of it.

Including the very best of your images, „Real Colors of my Life“ will be purchasable. To make sure your lifeblood will not be spoilt to enrich someone financially, it will lave into many little hearts. You all support „Las Mariposas“, a Children’s Village in Chile run by the organization „Hope for Children“. Your best for something really good.
Who is We? We are the color people of Datacolor, the manufacturer of the Spyder3 calibration solutions. To enforce our invitation a little bit, we have involved other „big ones“ of the photography scene:

Blurb, the bookmakers.

When it is about „BOD“ (book on demand) no serious photographer can ignore Blurb. Not just because they know what they are talking about and they have a layout software that even works with Flickr, but also because they know colors. Using their B3 service you can proof with your own profile before the images and the book get printed. This way you have your colors on your monitor in control. Blurb was kind enough to print the book – with color guarantee.

TPW, the photographer makers.
Our friends of TPW come up with a very special Christmas delicacy by offering the best entrant the opportunity to learn one thing or two about photography. The first prize is one week at your own option at the best workshop host in the world - Tuscany Photographic Workshop. Generations of photographers (btw, next to all the big Italian classic painters) got inspired to new creative and intellectual flights in the Tuscany.

Also on board – and we are very proud about that – are Adobe and Nik Software. They both certainly do not need to be further introduced. With one LKKN"Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom license and a nik-Complete Collection as a second and a third prize, you  will sure enough want to expand your creative practice.

Thus participating is worth it in every aspect. In the end we have considered what would be the perfect frame for your submissions and we have found a wonderful community of creative minds for creative minds, who have amazed us with the quality of its players and its operator, Mr. Denis Olivier: Artlimited.

Interested? Here you go!

  1. Go out, shoot – or scan your Mac or PC.

  2. Upload images in web resolution at  www.artlimited.net/colorsofmylife.

  3. Impatiently await the outcome of the all-night-long meetings of the jury after January 31st 2009.

  4. Get – with some good luck, but most of all with ability, passion and soul – a place in the  stands of honor (i. e. the photo book) and maybe win one of the prizes.

And even if you will not be published – Taking part is everything. Photography is passion. And we are looking forward to numerous transmittals.

Will be no easy decision for the jury!
